hey all
im sure we have all had a cold day in the deer stand:eek:
what do you,s use to keep the ole feet and hands warm?for my feet ive got a great pair of gortec boot,s from browning...
but the damm hands i cant keep warm no how:(

I wear cheap wool gloves with the pull-up mitt.

And in my gear I also carry my seal skin mitts from the arctic. 2 mins after putting them on my fingers are toasty.

A northern ranger put me onto this. Keep your feet dry and they will stay warmer. Put regular deodorant on the soles of your feet. They will sweat less and stay dry. Ground chilis like you put on pizza in your boots NOT under socks promote blood circulation in your feet keeping them warmer. I am NOT kidding these tips work. As for my hands I wear Canadian Army cold weather mitts with the wool back hand for warming your cheeks. I hunt alot of -20 degree weather and I am always pretty warm using these ideas.
cheers Darryl

I use heat zone handwarmers...couple of shakes and away they go. I wear a light synthetic glove under a pair of cheap wool mitts and the warmers on my hands. I wear a pair of Meindl hunters 400gr thinsulate for the majority of days, a pair of Elk trackers 1000gr thinsulate for cold weather outings and always wear liner socks under a good pair of thermals.

Whatever it takes to keep your feet dry, will keep them warm.

The best way, by far, to keep hands warm is with a pair of wool gloves worn inside a pair of leather mitts.

You will be amazed! It was shown to me about forty years ago, and I have told a lot of guys since then.

Never heard from anyone that it didn't work.

I wear my big'ol sorels when I have to sit in one place for a long time. keeps my feets nice and toasty.

mits are king for keeping hands warm. you can always slip one of when it's time to shoot.

I find the best way to keep the feet warm (other than a good pair of boots) is to invest in a few good pairs of "moisture wicking" socks. If you have a non-wool moisture-wicking sock as the base layer, and a heavier wool moisture-wicking sock over top, and a good pair of boots, your feel will stay dry and warm.

I'm also a big fan of the wool gloves under a leather mitt.

If it's really, really cold, you could even get those nifty little warming pack deals and shove 1 in each boot.

Yep.... Tried and true :D

My Dad worked outside all his life and that's what he wore. Never heard him complain about cold hands. He kept an extra pair of wool liners and switched them out at lunch time as well as the liners in his Sorels.

Hands... Wool gloves...

Feet... I change my socks prior to getting into the stand to sit for a long time... Actually, I change my t-shirt, socks and THEN I layer up, and climb up to sit... I find it much easier to sit for long times if I am dry and bundled up...

Cheers
Jay

Build a huge shack with a heater, or fireplace:) just kidding
I tried a pair of boot blankets once and they really work, and fairly cheap. When you get to your stand undo your boots to let the blood flow easier and put these boot blankets on and your feet will stay really warm. I also have one of the hand warmer sock thingy's that go around your waist . Not sure of the proper name? I use this thing alot in archery season when I have a release on my wrist. It really works.
