Have a few milsurp's that I would like to reload for, need to slug the barrels for bullet selection, how is this accomplished? (.303 enfield, Mosin Nagant, SVT-40)

I would push pure lead slug from the chamber end. There may be more wear here, and this is more critical spot. Just push slug in a couple of inches, and push back out. Select bullets that fit the groove at the throat.
If the slug slides loose after starting at the throat, it won't shoot well. Use a short brass rod to get it started so it won't damage barrel if it is off side.

I think the chamber end is best as well. Even on rifles that have no straight shot at the chamber, push the slug in from the muzzle, to the throat, then block the slug from the chamber, and give the rods a couple good whacks with the hammer to make sure that you have really good contact beween the slug and the grooves of the barrel.

Make sure that your barrel is clean and lightly lubed before you start.
