How do you store your 870 style shotgun?

I store my 870 unloaded, cocked, and action closed

Little bit of a thread hijack here, but is there an easy way to make some dummy rounds? Fired shells seems to be expanded and don't work great - do I have to buy some? And yeah, if I made some I would make sure to paint them some crazy colour...

They are really easy to make. I merely took a $10 bill, and turned it into a pair of them.

I store all my stuff with actions closed and hammer/striker in the fired position. Have not broken a firing pin in 25 years of doing this. Yet.

Personally I think snap caps are over rated if all you are using them for is storage. If you are using them for dry fire practice, then sure, they make sense.
