How do you take the bayo off from an M44?

I noticed there is a pin you can punch out but what after? the bayo seems to be 'welded' to the barrel, no?

can someone post a step-by-step instruction?

Thanks in advance!

The bayonet pivots on a screw. Remove the screw, and the bayonet comes off. The sleeve with the bayonet mount and front sight base is pressed and pinned in place; I don't think it is soldered as well. It was not intended to be removable.

I think you might have to have the bayo extended in order to get the screw out, I remember encountering a problem getting the screw out of mine, but it was easily fixed by either extending the bayo totally out or by extending it only half way (I can't remember which, it was a while ago ;) )

I take offense to this. I demand you buy several milsurps from me to counteract this insult.

Or else I will attack.

Are you saying you are a Nazi? :D

PM me the link to your EE ad for what you have for sale, and I'm talking rifles, not broken clock radios or shotguns tied to old tires. :D

Use a pencil torch to heat up the lug. Pour some oil or WD40 over and use a snug fit flat screwdriver. Heat up and put more WD40 until the screw will budge.
Mosin screws should be good quality - I did that on SKS which was soft like butter but still not too hard to remove.
