How Do You "TRUE" Your Ballistic Data?

Do you use a ballistic calculator like iSnipe or JBM to get an approximation of drop? If you do, how do you get it to match(true) your field data?

Do you adjust the ballistic program's velocity and B.C. to try to match your actual field data so you can reference it for future conditions and range?

Or do you use a DOPE book with the actual field fired drops and come-ups for all expected distances?

Or do you send your field data off and have a ballistic calculator custom made of of your round and rifle?

What say you?

I lie to the program until it tells me the truth. Chronographs lie, scope adjustments lie and BC numbers can be lies as well so the precident is set.

Tweaking the velocity imput or inches per MOA function can do wonders to make the chart line up. The scope adjustments can be checked with a big target. I shoot a group, test with one full turn of elevation, then again with another. If the adjustments aren't what they are supposed to be you're chaseing your tail.

My only dial yardage dial was engraved after the ammo was tested at the different ranges with that specific scope. That one did match the chart.

I go out and shoot at a certain range like 500 meters and i get all the environmentals and then i use the G7 drag funtion model for the bullet im using and enter in all the conditions and all i do is tweak the velocity untill it matches what i got.

With actual shooting. I shoot Exbal and it has a Trajectory Validation feature. This feature slows the velocity to match the actual drop of the rifle. I works!

I am a novice in this field, but in my two seasons and half dozen loads that I've tuned; manufactures' bc with chrony speed run through JBM has never given me more variation than the daily environmentals could account for. I've never needed to true my data, so far.

I use the program bullet flight and its pretty bang on. Ive used it out to 1000y and it works well.

I also keep a live data reckord. all my targets good and bad. Mark the info on them of turret settings, weather, wind speed and direction and even just how my body was. If there was something new I tried ect..

When I shoot at 1000y+ I just make a log of the conditions in my iphone and and if i hit it or not.
