Does the single or double stack shoot better?
How much improvement is there actually on a "tuned" norc 1911?
I am just planning to use it as a casual shooter when i wanna take a break from my 9mm.
Thanks

Personally, I don't like the "GI" bone stock 1911's as shooters...the sights are lousy, fit is usually loose which degrades accuracy, narrow grip safety is not all that comfortable for extended shooting, triggers are usually heavy.
Must have's IMHO on a 1911 for a decent shooter is good sights, properly fit bushing, decent trigger pull, and a wide beavertail grip safety.

My friend has a bone stock Norc. Trigger sucks, feels gritty and other issues.

The ~100ish bucks you're saving now will be spent later on while you're swearing at your gun. Somebody is gonna have to rip 'er apart and stone all the internals, check the sear and make sure it functions. Might as well get it ready to rock, instead of having to do the job yourself.

Mine shot just OK at 20 yds, maybe a 6" group benched.:( I sent it to Armco and Gunnar tuned it up and now it shoots 1 1/2" or better at 25 yds benched.:D Trigger is now excellent but new sights are a real must.

Just bought a Norinco 1911 for $350.00 from a friend (Dane-e).:D
I guess I can consider this a gift: that gun wasn't "bone stock" but had the a trigger redone before and its extractor tuned.
Hammer had been replaced with a target serrated wide spur. Pull is about 3 1/2 lb and crisp.
I don't know about the fit but there's no looseness in the barrel/bushing fit and that gun has absolutly NO rattle when shaken, which is supposed to say something about the tightness of the works. I did the same with a "bone stock" Auto-Ordnance lately and it was very noisy...

I'll have a dovetail cut on the slide and Novak adjustable sights installed this winter. Cost: about $170.00 parts and job included.
And, oh yes, probably a pair of Hogue or Pachmayr wraparound grips are in order...;)

Now, given the US laws on Chinese firearms imports, I don't know if US gunsmiths can get new ones but there was a growing tendency among them to do custom jobs on Norinco 1911s, a task they used to frown/scoff at before. This should tell us something about better quality control on these guns.
PP.

When both of my 'rincos were stock they would shoot with Colt National Match (Gold Cup) 1911A1 pistols. Yes, after gunsmithing, they will now out shoot Gold Cups and both of mine still have 'rinco barrels. Regards, Richard:D

Mine was accurate enough, when it wasn't stopping all of the time.

Sold it.

Tried a Norc SKS - Accuracy worse at 50m than my Shotgun with slugs.

As far as I'm concerned, two strikes against North China Industries. I might give them a third chance, but it would have to be something much nicer than anything if theirs I have seen so far.

YMMV.

Happy Festivus!

wasn't impressed with the 2 I tried , both had horrible triggers 12 pounds plus sights were hard to see ,gun had sharp edges on the safety and couldn't get 10 shots on a 12" target at 20 meters , other than that they weren't bad.

I only own one norc and that is an sks, it shoots great for what it is. I already own a colt 9mm combat commander, and a norc 1911 commander will be joining it in the near future. Armco tuned of course.
