I don't know. I'm left handed so maybe I should look at Stag Arms but the M&P has a great clean look. I use right handed rifles and shotguns anyway and it hasn't been a problem.

1 mag, both fixed and collapsible stocks. Removable carry handle. 16" barrel $1800

Here's a pic:

Any thoughts or experiences?

TIA

I'm aware of search functions for forums. I'm not interested in peoples wants for uppers or lowers on various configurations, I'm interested in opinions on this rifle. You know. Who has one or had one and what they liked and disliked about it. Ammo recommendations. General feel for balance and quality.

I shot a 2 gun match with a guy on Saturday night who was using one... ran fine. I didn't shoot it but it looked decent and felt solid. As for ammo recommendations I'm sure it will eat whatever you feed it.

I have one ( $1600 all in from site sponsor Frontier ). Came with fixed and collapsible stocks and I use the collapsible one. Heavier profile barrel but no flash hider. Have fired several hundred rounds - performed 100% of the time no FTF/FTE issues. Slight wobble between upper and lower bugged me - fix was a small piece of an AE ammo box = no more wobble. Have replaced front handguard with a UTG quad rail for the tacticool look and replaced the grip with a Hogue to better fit my paw. Fakepoint optics and I'm good to go. Accuracy wise, it hits what I aim at but of course my groups are all "minute of centre mass" at 100 meters which is fine for me but regular AR users would probably get much better accuacy (using my AR is my fun time after shooting groups with bolt rifles ). Overall impression - works perfectly, looks nice, very good fit and finish and accurate enough for what I use it for. This was ( and still is ) my first and only AR and I figured that the S+W brand may hold value and that it would be an easy sell if I wanted to upgrade or change. I bought mine before the Norinko AR's came here which is probably what I'd do if I was now starting on the AR habit.

Well I've always leaned towards and AR-10 to go with the ammo for my M1A but I do like that S&W. I'm just not sure I want to stockpile yet another round. Then again, what a great excuse to buy more rounds... :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Well----how 'bout an update?
Did you go for the M&P15?----I am teetering on the edge myself about buying one, but would like to know about which aftermarket mags and sights or scopes work/fit the M&P the best.

( sorry 'bout the thread hijack :ninja:

We have been using an M&P 15 rifle on our range for over one year, and it started life as a US export gun, arwenace threaded the barrel and installed a 13.2 TROY rail, along with a Magpul stock, it has over 6000rds plus and we just continue to lubricate the gun with Weapons Shield, no malfunctions that we did not trace to faulty magazines.
