**edited the images to remove the scout scope since some of you are so anti-scout

id really just like to know if the super short 16.5" barrel will look silly with a full-length stock.
i think it looks great in the hogue stock. i even wouldn't mind the scout-scope mount, if i could figure out why they heck it's done like that. anyone care to enlighten me?
it
totally frees up the ejection port so that you can single-feed rounds easier.
with a low-power scope like a 2.5x mounted up front on the receiver it allows you to more quickly and naturally get on target. it also makes it a lot more comfortable to shoot with both eyes open and keep your peripheral vision. its almost like a compromise between iron sights and a traditional scope.
IMO they are especially useful for new shooters because they encourage two good habits:
1. not overscoping your rifle, and putting something like a 6.5-20x50mm on your deer rig.
2. shooting with both eyes open.
you really have to try them and see if you like them. a couple of my friends who tried mine and initially were ragging on me for buying a 'gimmicky scout rifle' actually ended up really liking the setup once they fired it at the range.
either way, its something different to try. if you dont like it, you can always mount the scope traditionally on the receiver. the scout rail is removable so youll just need some set screws to fill in the holes in the receiver and youll never know the rail was ever there. the Frontier also comes with a mil-spec picatinny rail that mounts on the forward rib and is ideal for stuff like reflex sights.
