How effective are chokes on a 12.5" (short) barrel?

I was thinking of tapping my 12.5" barrel for chokes and would like some input from those of you who have them. How much of a difference is, say, a mod choke on a 12.5" barrel vs the same barrel with cylinder bore over 20 yards? Is it a huge difference in the pattern? Is it worth doing?

The same as a 28 inch barrel... JP.

It depends on what kind of projectiles you intend to fire. With buckshot, 2 different chokes might give you a similar pattern.

yes it is worth doing. it gives you a lot more control over what you can shoot and lets you experiment to find a load your gun likes .you can experiment with a cylinder choke and improve your pattern also but chokes give you a lot more options .
