Rookie question 2 in a series of 2:

Should the bushing pinch as much of the neck as possible, or just be consistent for all cases???

Thanks,

-J.

For the Redding dies you can set it up to size the complete neck -0.005" if you follow their instructions.
You can also size as little as 1/3 of the neck if you desire less tension.

Their most recent recommendation for proper bushing start size is loaded round neck diameter- 0.001".
This is less than their previous recommendation of -0.002" below loaded neck diameter.

I still use -0.002" and size 80% down the length of the neck.

I don't like the way Redding names their dies because by just saying Yype S there are 2 different types of dies you can be talking about.
Type S Neck Bushing Dies
Type S Full Bushing Dies

The way I setup my Type S full size is , first I remove the decapper completely and setting aside the lock nut for it. Bushing will go in then the lock nut that I removed from the decapper. Screw in the top till it stops and back off about a 1/16". Load away

OK - makes sense.

I agree with you thump - the naming of the Redding stuff is like learning a new language every bloody time I go shopping.........
