How far of the lands for Barnes TTSX load development start?

I'm loading a Cooper 280AI with 150gr Barnes TTSX. I've heard they require a good jump.

Other hunting bullets (Nosler Accubond and Hornady VMAX) in other calibers I have (30-06 and .223 Rem) I have settled on loading about 0.025" from the lands.

What is a good starting point for the Barnes on the 280AI, any suggestions? I was thinking of starting with .050" off the lands.

I'm going to try loading with H4831SC and IMR7828SSC and hope to find a load that gives me good velocity and accuracy with this bullet. Also thought about trying VV N165 if one of the two above don't work and perhaps Reloader 22 although I've heard it is more temperature sensitive than the others.

Going to be loading fire formed Remington brass with CCI BR2 primers.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

For monoliths (GMX, TSX, TTSX, Etip), I always start at .030 off of lands. When I find a powder my rifle likes, then I play with shorter COALs/bigger jumps. Why? I figure that pressures will only decrease as I move further from the lands (I.e., avoid the possibility of pressure surprises).

Just a thought, but i reload a few empty brass with my bullet long. I use the rifle and chamber the bullet and close the bolt. The projectile will hit the lands and push back into the casing showing the chamber length. I then back off 10 thou. in length for final overall length. Seems to work fine in my guns. Right or wrong, i am pleased. and no mishaps in many thousands of reloads fired.

I always got better accuracy results when these bullets make a jump, sometimes quite a bit of a jump...

I use a similar method for cup and core bullets, but I would not start at .010" off of the lands with a monometal bullet. Seated that close to the lands, could result in much higher than normal chamber pressure with monometal bullets.
