You sure its not some sort of hybrid Coyote Wolf? I hunt around this area and have never heard of wolves this far south. But I suppose anythings possible as historically I am sure they were here hundreds of years ago.

I have seen wolves just north of Kingston. Not many, and lucky to see one, but they are around. We have shot a few, all were bigger than any coyote.
Mostly its just coyotes, until you get closer to Algonquin. Have seen eastern and Timber wolves in Algonquin, but not allowed to shoot them. ;)

Past North Bay, you should be good to go.

Lots of wolves in the Algonquin Park area. Occasionally we see them around Golden Lake/Killaloe.

I'm only 20 miles south of Alg park, we have lots of coyotes & a few Timber wolves. A large coyote can be very hard to tell from a small timber. I like to think I can identify them from the jaw width...after I shoot them :D
Yotes have a very narrow jaw much like a fox or Collie dog does while a timber has a wider jaw more like a German Shepard would have.
