how far with a 204 ruger on coyotes?

Hmmmmm. You kind of opened up a can of worms with this one.... I have personally witnessed a 22-250, shooting 50gr vmax and 55gr nosler varmageddons drop coyotes consistently out to 500 yards and a hand full past that. (Ranged spots multiple times, these are legit). Same with the 243 and 220 swift, easily 300, 500 still drops them. The 204 is different, although having ultra high BCs, a buddy and I were testing some 35gr beegers loaded as fast as we could to maintain accuracy, and at a milk jug at 600 yards, it was penetrating and not expanding at all (that bullet should vapourize after hitting it). Although I only shot a couple with my 204 and they were all close (under 200 yards), a good load worked for 35gr Berger, 39gr sbks or 40gr vmax should easily drop them out to 300 yards or less. Although everyone screams "extremely fur friendly", I have yet to see it. But this fall I'll really give the 204 a run for its money and see!

I briefly owned a 204 Ruger. A 223 Remington drops coyotes much more humanly. If you wanted a dedicated coyote rifle the 22-250 gets the nod. 139 SST from the 7mm Rem Mag works the best.....

You mention milk jugs with tbe bergers but not the vmax or BK. The berger actually has pretty poor BC compared to those 2 previously stated bullets. I know for a fact that at 500 a vmax will still turn a gopher inside out so if yo ever get out to the milk jug test again try the higher bc bullets and see how it goes. And for fur friendlieness i find it helps a lot to keep shots behind the shoulder and not on it. Just my 2cents
