How good/bad is Norinco

By definition.

No 9mm 1911 is Mil Spec.:yingyang:
Only the original 1911A1 in .45 ACP, is Mil Spec.

There are 1911 9mm specific parts such as; slide, slide release, extractor, ejector, firing pin, barrel bushing, and recoil spring.:)

Not Norinco 9mm 1911 specific.

The parts of my G.I. style Norinco 1911 .45 ACP pistols, interchange with the parts of my Colt manufactured 1911A1 .45 ACP military pistols. With the exception of the grip screw bushings.

I tried to put a wilson firing pin in my NP29...000ps!
I tried to put a wilson extractor in my NP29....000ps!

They are NOT Mil Spec...however if you want a gun to go out and bang away with, nothing wrong with them...If your thinking of making a race gun out of it...it is cheaper to buy something ready to go...me I'm a sucker for adding on aftermarket parts...

Ok, Here's the thing. I am hearing that Norinco have really improved their products compared to 4 or 5 years ago. Now I'm getting my RPAL soon. And it's already been expensive for me to get this far so I don't have a ton of money to spend on the real deal like Remington, Colt, etc.

So is Norinco worth the price?

If you see someone shoot a Norinco at the range and the gun has no problem, ask for try it out and see how you like it, people normally won't refuse to let another shooter try their gun. the value of the gun can only justice by yourself.

This! I did the same (bring your own ammo!!), shot a NP29, GSG 1911, Jericho 941 and a couple revolvers. Turned into a nice social thing.

Sit at the firing line, wait for a break and ask owners about their guns.

Besides the fact that a 9mm 1911 is fundamentally not mil-spec, "drop-in" parts don't always drop in when it comes to 1911s.

I have had good results with my Norinco 1911 and M14. If you think of them as a kit that may require some tweaking for best function, they're pretty good for the price.

for a new guy to this forum I'll put in my two cents if you don't mind
I'm also starting out and on a tight budget so Norinco fits well , I havn't put alot of rounds through it yet but for the price $349 I think it was compared to $700 and up or so. Yes you get what you pay for but in the end they all get the job done.
just my two cents.

Buy a armco tuned one and youll love it

Do this.

Four of us at the range today, shooting and passing 1911's around. My untouched 1911, an Armco tuned 1911 and a Ruger SR1911. I think three of us preferred the Armco tuned 1911. The guy that owns the Ruger was the previous owner of the Armco tuned one and mentioned that function wise, he thinks the Armco tuned one is just as good as his new Ruger.

I have a 1911A1, M14, M4, sks,hp9 all norinco all high round count and all have had zero issues. I find that the m14 and M4 are my favourite of all norc products. My m4 shoots on par with all my friends stags, bushmasters, dpms ect. The 1911 is great but i wish i bought an armco tuned one

No problems with either my NP22 (Sig P226 clone) or the CQA (M4rgery) that weren't to do with funky magazines. Kind of brutalistic finish but they work!

Yo neva buy a norinco handgun cuz u could get a real gun fo liek 2-3 hunnit mo. Bustas be rollin wit wackass norinco gats dey pay tree fiddy when u can get a real glock fo liek 6 hunnit. Real talk - Shaolin Represent

Mine was bought just to play around with the 1911 platform. Armco-tuned Sport model. Runs 200 and 230 grain loads brilliantly, but stubby 185's seem to choke it up. It's a lot of fun to shoot. I have maybe a hundred bucks in it, 3 ACT mags, some cheap grips, a Fusion bushing, and some white nail polish to "upgrade" the sights.

I've had MANY norinco firearms and only had two problems:

1) 1911A1 - Last round from the mags would always fail to full extract and the slide would slam down on the casings causing a jam. Solution: I swapped the Norinco mags for name brand mags and NEVER had the problem again!

2) NP-22 - Sold the gun and the new owner had the firing pin broke. He admitted that he did a lot of dry firing without snap caps. Replaced firing pin and so far I think it's still running smooth.
