How Good Is The ARMS # 18 Mount?????

The ARMS #18 MOUNT, is a well machined, rock solid mount that is probably second only to the Smith Enterprise MOUNT. I personally prefer the esthetics of the ARMS model myself. The only complaint I've encountered about the current #18 mount is that it is possible for an ejected brass casing to become lodged under the mount, causing a jam due to the forcefulness of the M14s ejection. It isn't that common, and for us civilian users really doesn't pose anything more than a momentary inconvenience. The older style ARMS #18 mounts that consisted of two blocks of picatinny rail, unlike the solid picatinny rail design of the current model does not suffer from that problem. To my understanding, the Smith Enterprise mount is not prone to this potential failing either. I've yet to have this happen to me while using one of my M14 ARMS equipped rifles. They're a good mount and much better than the Springfield Armory and other cheap knock-offs available on-line.

I would buy one! No, wait, Don't buy ONE... Buy TWO of them for both yer M14's. Oh you don't have 2 Norinco-plinko M14's ? Now you will be kicking yourself .... If you haven't already....

I spent the morning testing out my new ARMS 18 on my M14A. No ejection problems at all. Only one brass mark on the mount. All empties landed in neat circle so they didn't appear to be hitting the mount at all.
To top off the morning, one of our club members had a Bushnell 3200 to sell. My Christmas shopping budget is done. I wonder what the rest of the family wanted???

It'll look just like this:

I'm very happy with this setup. The scope/mount combination has performed flawlessly. I'm using medium height Burris Z-rings to mount the scope :D

RifleDude,

That is freakin' beautiful! Is it true that with the scope removed you can still use the open sights when this mount is installed?

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

Looks like a rooster33 cheek piece, and if you can get one, get one for me too. Good stuff, but impossible to obtain anymore:(

Another big +1 for the Arms mount. I hesitated for a long time fearing the cycling problems mentioned above, but mine works flawlessly as most do.

My advice would be to buy the arms as they look far better with the low profile. If you are one of the few that have problems you can easily resell it on the board to try a different mount.

Rooster33 cheek pieces are quite rarety these days..Is Laszlo still in the game?

Don't know, but he sure was AWOL for quite some time. One of my M-305's was sitting with Jeff Smith for a long time while he waited on promised parts from Laszlo.

That's it below, the short one. The other looks awefully like the one above. You copying me Rifledude? :D
