How high are you?

How high off the ground is the base of your tree stand?

Any reasons why you chose the height you did?

I'm right around 12' to the bottom of my stand, and last time I hunted deer (about 5 or 6 years ago) my old stand was the same height and I seemed to get deer whenever I would put in the time to get one. I was watching a couple shows on WILD TV today and man, some of those guys are way WAY up there, either that or its just the camera making them look 30+ feet off the ground.

I'd say I'm about 18' up, but I put the stand so high because of branches that I didn't want to cut lower down.

I used to know a fellow whose moose stand was 35 ft to the floor. It was a scary looking sight to see this stand attached to a big lone birch tree in the middle of a huge clear cut that was about 8 years old.

I'm one of those who has a real phobia with heights. A tree stand at anything over 8 feet would not be within my capabilities. So I hunt from the ground.

12-18 ft. We always use safety line, complete with a climbing prussic knot.

I have a ladder stand that is 15' and a bit to high for my liking. I usually build a stand 12' up.

I have some hang on stands which have been placed in the 20-25 foot range depending on terrain. both of my ladder stands are 15 feet tall but I leave one section of ladder out of my single man stand so it is only 12 feet high. would do the same with the 2 man if I could.

My bear stand is 18' from the ground. about 30' up from the bait that is 20 yards away.....I like it that way and no one else will dare hunt my stand lol

my deer stands are mostly 12-15 feet high, all homemade ladder stands.

I have a ladder stand that's around 15', a hang on that's about 18' and an old scary wooden one that's gotta be 25' or more. No more building stands and new ones will be lower.

A neighbor at my camp fell out of his stand while climbing down and broke both wrists a couple weeks ago.

My wooden built stands average from 10-16 feet or so depending on the amount of brush in the way/having to cut shooting lanes, or to see certain terrain features such as the back side/both sides of a ridge you couldn't see from the ground.

With ladder stands I think 18' to the seat. My climber I go just high enough to shoot over undergrowth. This year I had a bear clawing the bottom of it

I prefer to hunt from the ground especially with bow
