How high do you think SKS prices will go?

1000$ within 5 years. You can screencap this post.

There are STILL huge numbers available. Importers still buy them dirt cheap.

Not for a few years they haven't

SKS prices did not move that much over the last 10 years. I see matching SKS (mag included) for around $400 to $450, yes people are asking more but do they get the price?

The NASDAQ has also not moved much in the last 10 years.

I think a major factor on the price of the SKS will be the availability of cheap surplus (or any) ammo. If it remains the cheapest centrefire cartridge to shoot then any functional gun will have versitility, but if ammo becomes as expensive as 556, only prestige collector grade guns are gonna be valued much.

Not much purpose for a beater gun with no ammo

Why would there be a cap on the price of anything? Things get more expensive with time, this is true for everything that costs money. In 300 years, if people and guns and money are still a thing, I would expect an SKS to be worth more than $500.

There are multiple variables

There are two main markets for the SKS
1) Shooters
2) Collectors

For Shooters the price of ammo is a huge factor but another factor is legal availability of other NR centerfire semi's. If they continue to ban by model and not by action the SKS may be one of the few left. In that case its value will continue to rise. Id assume it will be ~75% of whatever the cheapest new centrefire semi goes for. As those new ones go up in price, so will the SKS.

For collectors I don't think the price of ammo factors in at all. The price will continue to consistently rise but if we go into a recession it wont rise as quickly as its has. A safe queen is a luxury item that requires disposable income. People will thin the herd and keep their shooters.

This is all true until the Government indicates a change in current policy. Then they will all crash in price, if you can even legally sell them.
Black-market pricing is something I wont touch with a 1,000 yard pole

They can only go up. Period. How high and how fast I cant tell. But they got everything going on for them. They are reliable semi auto milsurp shooting the still cheap and nice 7.62x39r.

But Im willing to bet that in a couple of years from now, there will be a whole bunch of guys that will regret throwing aways their original hardware or drilling their reciever.

Lee Enfield ammo dried up decades ago and there were millions of them, yet they go now for close to a grand if they are matching
