Can't post pics from the auction, sorry...

Feb 1945 CYQ P-38, all matching. Bring-back, not a Russian capture/refurb.

Superb condition.

It's holding at $700.00 right now, trying to decide if I want to get in and snipe at that price, or potentially higher if it keeps climbing before close tonight.

Yah, I'm thinking $700 is about "top" price for the pistol + 1 mag (no holster)...

Just that it really is in fine shape. Well, for what it is - late ware, rough machining on the outside. But very obviously well kept since, no Bubba, no Russian Refurb process, all matching, all stampings intact.

Torn... so very, very, torn...

Will keep watching and let you know how it goes tonight.

I was offered one in 1958 for $25. I didn't have that much money.

And this is part of my problem. I don't foresee them getting any cheaper. At least, not until all pistols achieve 12.x status under some future government.

depending where you shop that sounds high , especially if you have to pay other auction fees on top . $550.-650. cyq is the least desirable for some reason?

$700 plus auction fees is about top dollar for a CYQ P38 (Spreewerk).

Typically CYQ were less desirable as they were generally more roughly finished. There was also rumors they were sometimes sabotaged or used inferior materials as they were made in the occupied Czech Republic. IMHO anything that survived the War was probably one of the properly built ones.

I have a matching cyq bringback with Spreewerke mag that I've owned for many yrs. Its yours for $650 shipped.:)

Got pics?

We'd have to run it through the EE, so the admins don't get all outta-shapy-bent-y.

Generally, you're one of the sharper tacks on the forum, BTW. Not that I always agree with you ;)

Hey, that's kind of a back-handed complement, but I'll take all the recognition I can get.:) I can take some pics and email them to you if you PM me your email address. No need to wash it thru the EE.

pm Sent.

p.s. Generally speaking, it's more fun to disagree with someone who's opinion you respect - you get better info that way ;)

I got an infraction once and all I said was I would sell (it)

With some of the dumb things I've said around here, I'm amazed I'm still infraction free. Sooner or later, someone will cotton on that I'm not actually that sharp, and I'll go pink.

IMHO the RC P38s should be priced lower than a bring back. Especially if the bring back is in excellent condition.

I notice the RCs are no longer available unless you can find one privately. I have seen a few P1 pistols on sites and in stores but of all the P38 style pistols I find them to be the least desirable. That is just my taste, the pistols seem to be just fine.

I do agree however that bring back P38s don't seem to bring a premium though.

$700 - $800 is about right for a P38 CYQ in excellent condition if it has a CYQ marked mag. If it had the late double flap holster as well maybe $1000

The auction closed at $710 + $20 shipping - to someone else. (no auction fees).

Given that Russian Capture mixmasters are going for $695 + tax + shipping as a "dealer rate" at the moment, I woudn't consider that price to be excessive for a good condition all matching bring-back (which, personally, I'd rather have - Spreewerke or otherwise).

They aren't making them anymore, and they seem to be drifting south of the border to the "big money" collectors.
