After removing the locating screw, I was able to get it warm enough with ordinary propane torch. Was playing flame back and forth, and around - saw a little ball of solder sneak out in one place - tapped it with a wood block and it slid most of the way off on first tap. Unless barrel has been sawed off, usually have to get the front sight off first the same way - it usually also has a locating screw, under the sight insert.
Edit: Wasn't mentioned, but the spring, ladder, slide, etc. all removed first. Had read somewhere the solder on "mausers" is just plain old 50/50 lead/tin low temperature stuff, is NOT silver solder, unless someone "improved" it...
