How I make my paper cartridges - 56K warning

Though that I would share this. I only shoot loose powder, and most speedloaders on the market are both expensive (for what they are), and pretty much cater to pelletized loads.

What you need.

- 5" by 6" square of Wax Paper,
- some masking tape
- a length or 1/2" dowel
-the .50 cal projectile of you choice
- powder / measure, etc

Lay the paper out lengthwise, with a piece of masking tape on the trailing edge of the wax paper. Be sure to leave some excess tape to seal the ends.

Roll both the bullet and dowel together. The dowel ensures a tight uniform tube so the powder can't leak around the sabot,

Seal the bullet end with the excess tape

Pour in your desired charge in the other end.

Fold over and seal - Viola the finished load!!

To open: Rip open the powder end and dump into barrel

Pop out the bullet.

Disposable, moisture resistant, no worries.

I make my speed loaders ( for .50 cal) out of old 1/2 inch garden hose.

I cut it into 5 or six inch lengths..

On one end I tape a lenght of cord which goes through a hole in a 1/2 inch dowel ( about 1, 1/2 inch long).

I shoot cast loads so I put one in the free end (backwards) pour in my powder in the dowel end and plug with a dowel.

To load in the field you pull the dowel plug. pour in the powder... then ram the slub down the barrel ( which is why it goes in the loader backwards).
Once the slug has been started you pull the ramrod out and remove the speed loader and complete the loading......

Works great and costs nothing if you have some old garden hose that may or may not have been run over by a lawn mower!!
