How interchangeable are Norinco/Sig P-228 parts?

I like the Sig P228 but it is hard and expensive to find a new one. I already have a Norinco P228 which I like. I am just worried about durability and longevity.

Since you could purchase about 3 Norinco P228s for the cost of one Sig P228, is it economical to wait for the Norinco to break down and then use it as spares for the next one? Or would they not interchange useful parts?

It is the slide that is the weak point on some Norinco P228s, right? Can a new Norinco or SIG slide be swapped in?

Can you upgrade a Norinco with a lot of SIG parts, or would this cost so much and be so much trouble that you should just find a SIG?

At the very least I am going to find some nice SIG wood grips for my Norinco.

Maybe I am lucky, but I have had nothing but great success with the NP34. The P228 parts are fully interchangable but all you really want to consider are springs eventually(Wolff) and if u want a short trigger.. I put 228 adjustable sights on it and am very pleased with the results.
dB:)

Also, can you replace your Norinco frame with a Sig frame? Or is that a registry problem? And more expensive than the entire Norinco pistol plus probably just as hard as finding a complete new 228.

There's an old saying....if it ain't broke don't fix it. You really want a Sig, right? Not a mish mash of parts from different guns that have differences you may not notice till you get to the range and have problems. Take the money you'd pay for a part here and there and save it in your Sig Account. There's nothing wrong with your Norinco so shoot it and be patient till you can upgrade. Just my 2c. In the end you will feel like you accomplished something and have a great pistol if my P226 is any indication. I had to wait but it was worth it.
