Was getting an Indian woman I know schooled up on shooting.
Broke the ice with 50 rounds of 22LR, stepped her up to a Sportsman 78 in 223.
She shot it marvelously.
But all I had was coyote rounds...FMJ.
Ran in and grabbed some 53 grain SP to reload with.
The employee stated " I hope you are taking head shots!"
" Nope, boiler room shot will do the job"
Anyone else experience this attitude?

A buddy of mine 11 year son shot a whitetail buck at 200 meters with a .223 REM using Sig Sauer 60 grain copper loading, did a number on the near side shoulder, and no tracking was required. Buddy stated the carnage was very substantial, and he’s convinced the .223 is far more capable than he originally thought.

Your 53 grain SP’s are not deer fodder btw……

what bullet should he be using for deer with his 1:12 twist barrel?

just curious (i dont use 223 for deer but if i did it would be my federal fusion 62 grain)
Here’s where higher learnings need to take hold, bullet construction, twist rates…. All factor into this, if hunters can’t grasp these two concepts, stick with the 6.5 Cred…….

One in 12" twist friend... have to factor that in.
Would love to use 60' or 70's... odds are they won't stabilze

Would be great if we had some deer in our area, pretty slim pickings, got a new 22 creedmoor, just itching to try it on deer, so far 3 coyotes and a squirrel with an attitude they all think it will work just fine.
