how is the Glock 17 Gen 4

If you guys could do me a favor, PM me if you see a good deal for the gen 4 Glock 17. I'm not having to switch till May, luckily.

Prices have definitely gone up in the last 6 months. As someone who has been toying with the idea for around a year I've seen a low as $650 (was a boxing day sale) to as high as $820 now.

The best deal I have seen yet, was this time last year. Prophet River had a sale that was phenomenal. I was lucky enough to snag one of them at that time.

What's wrong with the sights. My duty carry will likely have stock sights so I'll need to keep them stock to train with.

Your duty gun will probably have the factory night sights on it - so it won't be an issue, they're Trijicons. The basic factory day sights are a joke if you use a gun hard, they're plast-er polymer, so if you do any one handed drills (reloads, stoppage drills) you can pop the back sight off. Also the front sight wears from holster draws, and can also snap. That's why "commercial users" get night sights. Having spent the last seven years shooting an M&P and recently buying a Glock to see if they work for me yet, the worst difference between them is the mag release, but frankly, that's just a practise thing.

Yeah, I'll be transitioning from an M&P40. I've always wanted a G17 so this should work fine. Plus in the super extremely rare instance I'll have to put it to use I don't think there's much difference between 9mm and .40 when ####'s hitting the fan. Plus this will allow me cheaper training.

It is not my favourite gun, I bought it to see what all of the fuss was about and after having put a few thousand rounds through it I can say that it is a good polymer gun. The Gen 4 with a Hogue grip is actually very natural in my hands. It is unadorned and functional.

My G17 Gen4 was my favorite go-to teaching platform for my clients. For a couple of years it was my go-to CQB competition pistol. Never a single worry even when doing the modified prone with strong side holster ground into the mud and / or snow at Langemark Range, Base Borden. :)

Now it's time for my polymer striker fired Sig P320 to shine!

I've dropped in a 3.5 Lb disconnector and a Vickers extended slide release all shipped from "Rock yer Glock" ! Google them!

Cheers and keep helping the nooobs around here!

I also got one for 565 and have had no problems with it, still looking at getting sights for it tho, shooting indoors is hard to see at times at my range. But as far as reliability have not had any issue yet and its been a year.

Mine arrives next week. Have plenty of experience with 22 gen3 and 35 gen4. All great, agree about trijicon ns. My 35 has aftermarket seveigny/warren tactical sights which are great.

Super rare instance? Sounds like you work for armored car. If so, there's nothing but shootouts in ontario and Quebec lately.
I do and we are transitioning to gen4's this year from .38's. Employee purchase program allows us to buy for $575 all in for nib gen4's if you work for armored car that starts with capital "G" that is.
