I was in the market for a PPK, but apparently CFC isn't allowing rebarreling if the pistol's original configuration was in .32 or .25acp... despite being changed to restricted with a .380 barrel, protruding very nasty-like out.

Bullocks!

This has come up before. Totally ghey IMO. They must really want those DEADLY prohibs to dissappear when the owners die off........

PPKs also come in .380 if you weren't aware.

We just did one less than a year ago! Where did you hear/see this? Did you get it in writing?
Firearms are classed as they are not as they were or as they could be. If it walks like a duck it ain't a chicken. If the gun is a .380 with a 4.5" barrel then it's restricted not prohibited. Had this fight years ago with a stripped Luger frame. "They" insisted it was a prohib even though it did not meet the definition of "Having a barrel length of....or in .25 or .32 cal.." I won, thought I had punished them enough...guess not. Tell me who you want me to call/write!

I know, but finding a PP or PPK in .380 is hard... and finding one for sale is even harder... and finding a barrel to dump into it to make it restricted is yet another thing I have to do...

Seems like it's just as well to give up. Thanks a lot CFC.

Who manufactured your PPK? Walther, Smith & Wesson, etc? They were made in four plants? Also what is the new barrel length? PM me or post on here.

They quite often come up in the EE. Barry of Bits and Pieces in BC will make a new barrel for about $250.

The FRT disk has non restricted PPK's in 380 so I'm figuring they were rebarrelled. 106, 107, 112, and 118 mm.

Has anybody actually ever killed anybody with a .25 anyways???

There were two US police officers killed out here in Washington State about 20 years ago with a .25 auto by a prisoner that hadn't been searched properly. I believe they were both shot at close range from behind. Maybe another reader has more info about it.

Really? Wow, I must contact him. I'm going to get names and ID's from people tomorrow. If this is the case and they're giving me the run around, I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

You'd think to get rid of the evil .32acp, they'd love for you to de-prohibit an existing pistol with a longer barrel and a lesser evil .380acp, wouldn't you?

I know our laws are wack... but still.

If the pistol is kept in prohib status its movement is quite limited. If it is changed to restricted status it could move on forever. Just another way the antis want to screw with us.

GOOD NEWS

After a morning of battles, one girl at Miramichi said that as long as the barrel length AND caliber were changed (If caliber was prohibited) to restricted IE .380 barrel of the appropriate length, then the pistol must be verified and then I can take possession of it!!

Awesome!
