How large, and how small a caliber cartridge have you taken deer with? also power?

Largest would be 375 Ruger

Smallest I have seen was Bartell with the 221 Fireball. Smallest I've done personally would be 30-30 I think. Used .223 on bear though.
 
Shotgun and 50 Cal black powder is what I normally use. If and when I get a chance to hunt a center fire area I take my 25/06 458 wm and my 45/70 double depending on terrain and weather
 
Used a .223 for a couple mulies. Penetration was a LOT more than most seem to believe it would be. No sign of the 'explodes just under the skin' stuff that folks keep repeating.

Least powerful? Likely the .45 cal round ball muzzle loader I took a WT doe with. ~40 grains of Pyrodex, by memory, still got a pass through the doe, diagonally. In behind the ribs on one side, out through the front shoulder on the other. No real damage besides the hole. No meat loss!
