How long did it take you to get your PAL?

I took my coure 16 years ago when my FAC expired and never put in for a new license. I was planning to challenge the non restricted / restricted tests last week. the day before the test I called the firearm center and they told me that they have my results on file from 16 years ago and that the test i took back then was for both restricted / non restricted. I sent in my app last week and now I wait; I am hopefull it will go fairly quick but I had someone in a gun store up country from here tell me that it can take 6 - 8 months. anyone know anything about that?
 
2 of my buddies in Abbotsford sent their papers in for their first pal and rpal. They both recieved the card in the mail 5 weeks later. Now its time to take them gun shopping :))

I'm in the same boat as well, nearly four weeks since I did the safety courses and passed the exams and I still haven't received proof that I've done them. Who should I call to inquire about its status?
