I just shot my first ever 25 at skeet today. It took me eleven years! How long did it take you to shoot yours?

Trap shooters and SC shooters are welcome to contribute. Just specify the discipline.

My very first round of skeet was a 17, and I shot my first 25 after a few months. I shot my first 25 at trap after that, after shooting around a dozen rounds of trap.

Couple of years to go straight in skeet ( only gauge I haven't do ne it with is 410)
6 months for trap at 16 yards.

Skeet? 8 years then they seemed to just come regularily. It all changed for me after studying a video over and over and over by Todd Bender. It changed the whole game for me. Trap? Trap just came naturally and easy to me and I shot 175 straight by the time I'd shot less than 1000 targets and had two top ten finishes at The Grand in my second season.

no 25s but when I was 18 last year I would beat the old coots with 23s and 22s . They would get pissed haha. my best is 23 is think but ive only shot like 6 times. There's to many fun ways to shoot and not enough time!

Shot my first 25 in trap after a couple of years of screwing around. The next season I shot 50, 75 and 100. Haven't shot another 100 yet. This summer at the BC Provincials two guys shot their first 100 and then their first 200 in singles trap. They both ran the first 25 before one of them missed.

When someone new at our club asks what it takes to shoot a 25 straight in skeet, we tell them about $5000....in ammo. Shot my first 25 straight after about a year and switching to low gun. I went 50 straight with my fathers Benelli one time and dropped high house station 4 when I was going for a 75. Cleaned the rest of the round but there are no prizes for 74's.lol
Bought a new hunting shotgun and few weeks back and shot back to back 24's with it. Again, no high fives for a 24.

Or the last year have shot a couple of rounds of trap a week. Lots of low 20's but no 25 yet, but I'm only 76, so there is some hope for me yet( I hope). I still have fun though, and that's really all that counts.

I started 5 stand, moved to sporting and dabbled in skeet and trap.

In that process it took me a few years. 4 I think. Year after have done multiple 49/50. Never a 50 but haven’t shot a game of trap in about 1.5 years now.

End of the day it doesn’t matter. If you are having fun, learning and ideally progressing, that is all that matters.

For the most part shotgun is a money sport. Few who shoot little are good. Those that are good shoot a lot.

It took me a year to shoot my first 25 straight in Skeet, took 4 to shoot my first 25 straight in Trap. Sporting Clays, I don't shoot it enough to get proficient at it, doesn't stop me from shooting the tournaments anyway.

If the only people who shot Sporting were those who are proficient at it, it wouldn’t be worth putting together a shoot.

Just looking at some old pictures etc, at a copy of letter from Dominion Marksmen with congrats for shooting 25 straight, with a badge
I was 9 years old. shot at Canadian Nationals in Montreal 1960 shot 200 rounds scored 198/200 came in 7th,ended up tied with american shooter for Junior Champ, won in third round 75 shots, before that I fired 75 rounds practice for Olympics 1960 Rome with Eddie Tuvo

This true. Sporting Clays, I shoot it to have fun, don't really take it seriously, I end up in the middle to upper-middle of the packs, which is fine by me. I usually travel with a couple of older gentlemen who spend most of the day ribbing each other, I always have fun.
