How long do you sonic wash for?

So I reload a lot of 9mm on my Dillon 650 and I normally use a vibrator for cleaning brass. I was just given a Lyman sonic washer and some Lyman washing solution. I used it a few times and love the results.

I used 50 oz's of water with 2 oz's of Lyman Sonic wash solution.

2 questions:

1 How long do you sonic was for???

2 Is it normal for the brass to be darker than the brass that I clean with the vibrator?? It is slightly darker gold looking. Very clean though.


Please describe your cleaning methods if you would like as well.

I've only used mine once and ran it through the 8 min cycle( with heat ) about 5 times before it got to a point that i liked then i ran it through the tumbler with a little brass polish and it brightened it up quite a bit !

I use the hornady solution and about 100-300 brass in the cleaner. I normally run for 3-5 8 min cycles then rinse in hot water and oven dry. Brass looks like brand new on the outside after that

Last time I used mine I ran it for 2 X 480 secs with just some sunlight dishwashing soap. Cases came out quite nice. I have started actually drying them once they are rinsed - I used to just spread them out and air dry them, but they would get dark and lots of water spots.

I give mine 2 full cycles of 480 secs but I use distilled water then a good blow dry with the compressor.
Clean as new. I've put away my media tumbler.

I use the Hornady Sonic, fill that sucker with non-tap water and all the brass I can fit in it, use hornady solution, then go for the full 30 minutes. Comes out shiny. Then I'm off to start sizing!
