Sorry, i did a search and couldn't find it, how long does it usually take for the restricted PAL to be processed, has anyone gotten one recently? I have heard from all the gun shops locally that sales are through the roof, so i'm wondering if it's taking longer, if there are more applications/etc.
I'm anxious, since i've purchased a gun off this board, and am waiting impatiently for the little piece of plastic that means i get to get it!!
Rgds,
Rob

I got mine in 4 months

I started mine in Sept. and it came in Jan. Now I'm having to wait for a long term ATT. She figures 3 weeks because of the pile of applications and the fact that there is only her.KD

Depending in which province you are. Here in Montreal (Quebec), the paperwork is processed in Miramichi (New Brunswick). I asked mid-december, I received it January 23 (Election Day).

So it took around 5 weeks. But everyone says that I was lucky. Maybe because it was a slow period of the year for them or something...

It varies. My friend got his in 35 days after they recived the application. Mine took two months. And my girl friends has been in the works since Agust and JUST now got aprroved and is in the mail. The wait times are not very consistent. But this is B.C.

Me i'm still waiting for the restricted course on march 11th so I could send the PAL paperwork once I received the damn course papers, they told me Pal take 45 days for all the works involved.

I applied for mine in early December and received it in middle January, not bad... I've heard some horror stories where it took months...

Sent my paperwork on January 9th they received it on the 16th of January and last week the website said if I haven't received it in 2 weeks (1 week down) then I should phone them. So it has been 35 days so far and I would expect it to come in towards the end of the month. Feb 28th would be 44 days including time sent mailing to me (51 including me mailing them).

The waiting is the hardest part, I want my Sig P226 now

My application took 28 days - the legal waiting period. I received the PAL the next week. Check online for the status. I have been told a phone call in the third "just to make sure all the papers were in order" is not a bad idea. Obviously, treat them with respect when calling. When I called after 21 days, they said all was in order, and to call back or check online on the 28th day, and sure enough, it was processed!

seven months, I was starting to think I had an ex spouse I'd forgotten about!!! In the end I had to start phoning them three times a week to encourage them towards achieving some measure of bureaucratic competence. One thing I've noticed though is that life is cheaper without a PAL, I'm not sure if I can afford a membership to the gun of the week club.

Hmm... my prospective employer (who I did my PAL testing for) said to let him know before I send in my application.

He mentioned something about, if he sends in a letter of employement intent WITH the application it will speed up the process?

Anyone have any experience with this... I just need to get my photo in the next day or two and send it all out.

Thanks

Well yes the waiting period I understand... but maybe this way it gets to the top of the stack... so as soon as the waiting period is up it's BAM processed right away type of deal?

Also... I'm looking at the instructions for the photo you send with the application... maybe I am really tired but is 45mmx57mm not REALLY REALLY small?

How the heck do they use that small a photo for anything, thats like the size of a dollar coin!!

Someone tell me I'm not crazy.

-edit- 45mm.. *shakes head*
