Got my beretta back today. Got the barrel threaded, muzzle brake roughed out & all the peaces for my fake suppressor as well. All for a mind blowing sum of $30!!!!
I just need to decide how long to make the fake suppressor. Barrel length or full size like in the pic. Give me you suggestions!!!

Once its all done the whole thing gets Duracoated!

I think if it was set up to be a barrel shroud, as in it extends back from the muzzle over the barrel, it would look pretty good. But to answer your question directly, I wouldn't make it too long, maybe 6-7 inches maximum.

Yeah, generally you go from the end of the barrel and back towards the stock to cover the exposed barrel. Then you get the look of having suppressed SMG and you won't jack up your balance.

Being something you've made yourself, I think having a tube that long in front of the muzzle, as in NOT a barrel shroud could start to become legally questionable, even if it doesn't suppress.

It will be mounted just like in the pic. Call it a barrel shroud or what ever. Just looking for opinions on if it should end at the tip of the barrel or extend a couple inches more. Im thinking just to the end of the barrel is going to look best.

I prefer a clean and useful setup. No rails on every available space just because you can type BS.

While the shroud is not useful it will at least have a from factory look when its done!

Especially if its a non-restricted CX4.

I think putting a bunch of fake crap on a firearm is like putting 24" spinners on your pickup. Completely useless wannabe junk.

Only a Surrey boy could come up with such a great analogy ;) I kid, kind off cause I totally get it.

Beside being completely pointless does a barrel shroud not some how affect performance? The rifle already has a pencil barrel like a Benelli MR1 but unlike the MR1 it isn't cryogenicly treated. Wouldn't having something over the barrel that contains the heat affect the accuracy?

It's a pistol carbine, the guy isn't going to be sniping with it. There are lots of barrel shrouds out there, like on the Kriss nr version, so I don't see why some people are against it. I would love to be able to make my own parts. Personally, a brake is more useful, but to answer the original question, don't go any longer then needed.

Meh, I say go for it.

People put 'useless' cosmetic or 'tacticool' stuff on their guns all the time. If you like the look do it. If nothing else, the more that do will make it more of a common sight (slightly useful for pushing for legal suppressors). No point in anyone here getting their knickers in a bunch over 'what others may think', as not doing it is not going to take the gun off any anti's radar anyway.

In theory yes. It will def' change the harmonics, and possibly change the thermal properties, however, not automatically for the worse.

The shroud could change the harmonics for the better. In fact, he could in theory tune the shroud in such a way that it could improve the harmonics if he gets very meticulous in it's design.

As for thermal, who knows. It could trap heat under the shroud, or it could act like a heat sink and allow it to cool better. If he drilled lots of holes in it, to go for a machine gun heat shield look, it should def' sink and allow for better cooling.

If it was me, I'd probably consider getting some computer heatsink goo to put on the threads to help conduct heat off the barrel.

why flame a guy for doing what he wants?? so what if he wants a shroud. just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to speak up about it.

Its a public forum where people post their thoughts and opinions their not flaming their giving their opinion.
