How long till we see wide spread Sustenance hunting ?

Not quite, I've got a freezer full of meat. But the rural folk would be sitting ducks whether they realize it or not.

Other way around...most rural people know and have history with their neighbors.......the urban folk will feel the pinch surronded by strangers.

Definitely, not feeling the hit super hard just yet in small town Alberta, but when I talk to my buddies in Toronto or Prince George.. yeesh it sounds like they're living in war time and any neighbor could be Jerry

Death rate for those infected is now at 4.36% worldwide. In Italy, it's 9.26%.

This bug hits hard the elderly and other immuno-weak/compromised people. IMHO, the government should be providing support to those individuals. The mechanisms of infection are similar to that of a seasonal flu and some individuals have symptoms so light that they dont even know they have the bug. Closing down businesses and instituting quarantines will not do anything but tank our already fragile economy. We cant stay isolated at home forever, can we?

So far, I see alot of political concern for the situation and unwillingness of our governments to face and accept many deaths that may result because of this bug.
Our governments are desperate to "do something". I am still wondering how they are going to come up with 82B just for this problem. On top of that our healthcare system is unprepared to deal with many people having the same health issue at the same time.

maybe some individuals are taking it seriously but there is not an answer on a national level so far but as of today travelers are still coming entering Canada and not being in quarantine: the only way to stop is lock down.

Lock down when it was just discovered in China. Instead, acting prime minister is preaching to us to self-isolate and maintain social distancing. If not, the government will "help you" do it. Not even a shred of accepting responsibility for this.

I can see cannibals before sustenance hunting for game/livestock. There's not much for game left, and even cattle numbers have dropped quite a bit over the last few years, but there is sure an abundance of useless people....haha

Yuk
They are useless in life. Do you think their eating/drinking/lifestyle habits make them useful in death? :d

One of these......

If they realize it, are they really sitting? Doing chores with lethal overwatch? Noting unusual activity and community response. No cell phones required. no internet trail. You better stay away from copperhead road.

Hmm. Wonder how many are actually set up for "sustenance hunting"? Depending where you are, taking a rifle and heading out for the first time is going to result in lots of miles walked and not much to show for it. Snares - preferably need brass snare wire - ideally with the sliding lock clips - got any? Fishing - need a net - got one? If you do down a critter, do you know how to get the insides out? How to get it home? Is it safe to eat or is it diseased? How are you going to keep it from spoiling without power? Am thinking many think an SKS and case of shells will solve their problem - probably will be the first to go down if it gets "real"...

Universal native term for bad hunter, vegetarian. Most couldnt hunt down a double espresso soy latte, square box thingy.

Some Canada geese flocks back of 20 to 30 , snow geese coming soon, Still eating last years hunt. crops still in the field in Saskatchewan may get a few snows and blues.

I get a kick out of us in the west. We get a virus that kills 1% or less of victims that actually get it, and people stock up on guns, liquor, and toilet paper and talk every man for themselves. The power isn’t even out yet for Christ’s sakes. Send a hurricane to the southern states and looters go wild and martial law in the streets.

Meanwhile Japan gets a tsunami that utterly destroys a region and people work together in an orderly and cohesive manner to save each other and move forward. This is a test run for the real thing, call me optimistic but I think we’ll come out of this better not worse.

It’s going to take work, financial prudence, and common sense not guns. Those who think they’ll be mad max come summer are in for bitter disappointment and some of the statements I’m seeing won’t age well.

Well said.

Yesterday I was in my field behind my house sighting in a new red dot on my MR1 and a MOE Enforcement Officer pulled up on the road beside the field, stopped and ot out and asked if I was hunting. The field abuts a road so he could see what I was doing from his truck when he drove up. Nice guy and when I told him I was just sighting in the rifle he told me to have fun and drove away. We never have MNR around here so they must be out looking.

Sure it can, last I checked 100% of us are human.

How dare you! Clearly the people who came to Canada as immigrants a century ago are better people than those who come today! Back then, immigrants were hard working people looking for a better life for themselves and their families, while immigrants today are only welfare bums and ideological zealots looking to burn the world down!

But seriously. You're absolutely right. We're all humans, regardless of where you were born, what color your skin is or what religion you believe. It would really be nice if more people viewed everyone from the lens of being human rather than focusing on petty things like religion or who came to Canada first.
