Good afternoon folks, I'm curious to as how long it takes to mount a reproduction PU scope on a mosin. already a bent bolt. Just needs the 4 holes drilled and tapped. I'm being charged 2 1/2 hours labour on it. That seems a little much , no? (edit, I forgot to mention I also said that I would carve the stock to fit myself) Thanks for your thoughts,

Sounds easy doesn't it... often it isn't as quick and easy as it sounds...

To correctly locate and drill and tap 4 holes
could take anywhere from an hour to two hours I would think.. depending on the equipment and skills involved. Possibly you have been quoted on the high side to cover himself. I know in the past I have quoted a low time and lived to regret it.

When I was doing it I usually charged $125 to locate 4 holes and drill and tap for sights on a barrel getting them all square with the action and each other...

I agree that it's not as easy as it sounds, or I would have tried myself. I doubted myself being able to keep everything lined up proper and getting the right angle for the holes. Ironically , $125 is what I was originally told. Anyways thanks for taking the time for your thoughts.

you also have to file the scope mount into fairly close alignment horizontally using a bore sighter.

Well, after some emails and calls we got the price settled back to the original $125. I stop at the range on the way home and while looking down the iron sights ,holding it , and then looking through the scope, it is far enough off I was looking 2 lanes over at the 100m. Got a little filing ahead of me like you say. I have a decent boresight set, but first I have to get it in the ball park.....
