Just waiting for my ATT to arrive in the mail. Once I have it how long does it take to transfer a handgun to me (purchasing from my local dealer) so I can take it home? Can I buy it and leave with it same day or do I have to wait? BTW buying a S&W M&P.40
Thanks

If you get it by courier you don't need an ATT so as soon as the transfer is complete you can have it shipped, if you wish to take it home yourself the store will also have to apply for an ATT which permits you to drive with the gun from the store to your home. I just had a restricted transfer from BC to ON done within one week.

In BC, usually just a few days...but like everywhere, it depends on how busy they are at that particular time.

I know I'm not in BC, but when I asked for my ATT they said they'd get to it in a couple days... I was emailed a copy just half an hour later. So you never know how long it's gonna take.

Usually. I had a BC transfer from a gun store for a restricted take almost two weeks. I had three other private deal transfers for restricteds from other provinces take a matter of days, one took only two.

Handgun Transfers....

ok so it still takes a few days for the transfer to happen even though I have the ATT?

I'm in BC, too.... Last restricted transfer I did from a dealer was less than 24 hours. [Dealer did transfer app on purchase and then had the temp ATT faxed to the store so I could pick it up & take home]

Last restricted transfer I did individual to individual was two days. Both of us are in BC. In fact we did the transfer on the phone while together. BC CPFO faxed me the temp ATT to pick it up & take home two days later after I confirmed via phone with the CFC that the transfer had been approved/completed.

Prior to the above I already was in possession of the long term ATT that allowes me to go to & from the range, etc.

Easier if the approving CFO is in BC.... I did a transfer not too long ago where the buyer was in Ontario. The Ontario CFO has to do the final transfer approval. Took about 6 weeks. It was painful.....:(

well i just bought my first restricted weapon. it's a Glock 19 from Dlask. the first time you buy a restricted it takes the longest to process everything. still it only took two days for my LTATT and three days for the transfer with the STATT. they'll tell you it can take up to ten days, but i guess there are different factors.

each day that passes call the CFO and ask them what the status is because mine took two extra days because those lazy asses forgot to fax any paperwork to Dlask. then when the lady said she would fax it in 10 minutes, i called 1 hour later and she forgot, so i made her do it while i was on the phone.

call them here: 1-800-731-4000 Dial 1, and 1 again the extension 9530

peace brotha!

Well things went pretty quickly for me. I recieved my LTATT in 3 days. And I purchased an M&P .40 on Tuesday and the att and registration was completed by Wednesday (today) so I picked it up today. Pretty speedy compared to some of the stories I've heard.

Any idea how long restricted transfers are taking in Ontario right now? I just bought my first restricted yesterday and am wondering how long I'm going to have to wait (not to mention the ATT wait).

I wonder how many of us follow the letter of the law with regard to short term ATT's for post office dropoffs/pickups? The old "I didn't know what was in the package till I opened it" is always convenient. Not for me, of course, but I'm sure a lot of you skip a step or two from time to time :)

When i bought my handgun( private sale, i'm in sask, and the seller was in AB), it only took a day. i was super surprised it took so short.

I'm in Ontario and I just got a Temp ATT to transport it from my local store to my house. The TATT was good for 3 weeks for some reason.

My last one in Alberta 2 weeks ago was done in half an hour. I bought the gun and started the transfer thinking the usual 1-2 days, went grocery shopping and the store phoned and said the had the transfer in hand.

The last one I bought was from TSE and I am a BC resident and the whole transfer took less than 10 minutes, walked out of the stoe with my gun, and stupit me only bought 500 rounds.
