I was just reading the forum on "coyotes- how well CAN they hear, and was wondering just how loud should a electronic coyote call be? For instance, a real rabbit can screech pretty loud, but what if the call was as twice as loud as a rabbit? I know that the sound will travel futher, but can a call be too loud?

Waiting to hear the outcome of this. Just getting into this and I have been wondering the same thing. I have been told they have eyes like a turkey, an nose like a bear and the better hearing than a dog.

It's all personal taste, I like to keep my sound cranked as loud as possible all the time, some guys adjust accordingly. You have to do whatever the coyotes are best responding to. EXPERIMENT

When I call I try to get as loud as possible. I have talked to people and watched on tv, some callers lower the volume if a yote shows up. I had one come out last year sub 100 yards and didn't notice him while i was calling very loud. he didn't seem to care.

I use hand calls and on my first series of calls I go about medium volume/air. After that full bore till I see one come out. And at that if I see one at the other end of a 100 acre field I still keep it loud till he commits to come my way. Right or wrong ? I don't know but it seems to work.
