How low can I go?

How low of a ring can a run and have a 50mm scope bell clear a Remington sporter or mountain rifle contour barrel? Lets assume I am leaving the weaver bases since they haven't moved in the last 5 and 30 years for the two respective rifles. 1" scope tube as the scopes will likely be an elite 4500.
