How many 0z of cerakote to do a barrel?

to do the barrel and action between 2 and 3 oz probably closer to 2 depending on what your using for spray equipment.

It needs thinning to run through the spraying equipment so even a 1 oz bottle is a LOT of actual paint. And when mixed with the hardener you've got 2 oz of actual paint. And that's heaps enough.

You'll go through a liter of thinner though between thinning the mixed paint and hardener to the right consistency and what you use for cleaning out the spray gun and other gear.

He guys. I am going to order some Cerakote and just wanted to know how many Oz it takes to cover a barrel, or a action, or both?

The small tester size bottle is more than enough and they will send you enough hardener unless you order the air dry C series. I am surprised if guys are adding thinner to the mix to spray and would advise against it unless you want to do a lot of experimenting in which case, buy the bigger bottle. My advice is to just buy the tester and follow the factory recommendations for best results. Watch the online videos from the factory and ignore the home garage ones. Cheers and good luck.

Cerakote is not designed to be thinned down. If you are useing the proper spray gun with a .7-1.0mm tip you should be fine. You can do a full barrelled action with ~18 ml of cerakote will full mill thickness. Their tester size is more than enough to do plenty of things.

Factory recommendation is 72 ml for a barrelled action including bolt. I find 50 ml is enough with a little left over. CZ or M-14 would use more than a bolt action due to all the extra nooks and crannies. There is nothing worse than running out before you finish spraying. I would be hard pressed to even cover a 1911 slide with 18ml. But thats just my own experience. There are some excellent tutorial video's on the Cerakote website showing what is involved in the process. Do not follow the do it yourself videos on you tube if you are interested in the best results. Again, this is just my experience.
