How many .308 rounds copper fouling

So I shoot a m700 .308 varmint and I have never removed the copper fouling from the barrel after over 500 rounds the acuracy is great right now just had it out shooting just shy of 600 yards and it was holding a 3-4 " group on steel how do you know when to strip the copper out ? It would stuck to have to shoot 100 to get the accuracy back !

Have never stripped the copper out of mine, (Rem 700 sps varmint .308)

Bought it used, and cleaned it. Have not touched it since then.

With my go to load, 168SMK it shoots half moa all the time out to 500 yards., has not been cleaned in over 1000 rounds by now.

Agree if it's shooting well leave it alone

Leave it until accuracy falls off! Just patch out the carbon if anything.

I've been viewing this series on youtube by this guy going by the name tibosourusrex. He goes very in depth about this and all manners of long range shooting.

I've learned a lot about shooting from these. hes got tons of info. he'll respond to you if you ask him a question. hes former US army and has been long range shooting for along time.

+1 for leaving it until you need to clean, A good quality barrel should only need to be stripped durring break in, after that, it gives a bearing surface, only needing to be cleaned pf carbon. I suggest you check out some of the magpul videos to get a more in depth understanding of this, I tested his theory and found it to be one hundred precent true That if you strip after a barrel is broke in, you will need to re apply the bearing surface to see your accuracy come back to normal.

So you guys say no brush just run a patch down the bore? I am a bit of a cleanaholic and I use to clean my gun after every range outing. Would that be hard on a chrome line bore?

For copper I have tried hopes 9, mpro7, and otis. THe only one to do anything was otis copper remover. That stuff works very well.

Butch's Bore Shine for general cleaning, and KG12 for copper. I've also used Wipe-Out with good results.

wipe out foaming bore cleaner has worked great for me. shake it very well and you will get lots of blue patches.

I have been using hoppe 9, remington brite bore. and I let the britebore soak for about 10 mins the run patches through until they are clean. Thats about it.
