How many animals can YOU legally take in a season?

Yeah, but then you're stuck eating ummmmmmm....... 51 500 x 500lbs 25 750 000 pounds of moose. Can you say constipation?

Sounds like we're in the same province...

Quebec

1 whitetail deer
1/2 a moose
2 black bears
2 caribou (if you can afford to drive 10000000000000000 kilometers north)

thank god the grocerie stores exist, we'd starve in this province...

On the up side, we can hunt marmotte 365 days a year! even when they are hibernating!!!

Don't forget we get 4 extra deer if you can afford to take the boat to Anticosti ;)

I normally only buy 3 whitetail 1 mulie and either moose or and elk tag and get my blackbear tags just because if I see one in the zone its dead :)

so without being drawn I can shoot 5 ungulates and 2 bear :)

(I can hear the guys from ontario crying allready :p )
some areas we can shoot up to 7 deers. 2 bears and we have turkeys:p

In our WMU My brother, father and I can legally shoot 9 whitetail deer. Then if you factor in mulie draws, camp wainright draw, and the annual moose hunt up north.... Its a lot of sausage, hamburger and steak.... a HUNTING LOTTERY JACKPOT.

between the 3 of us last year, it was 7 deer and a moose.

bottom line, I gotta quit my job, leave the wife, sell the house, pack the dogs (and the guns), move out west, find a job with a 6 figure salary and 12 weeks off!

I'll have to read the regs again, but I thought you could only get either a general, or draw tag for each species in the main categories, plus all the supplementals and special zone hunts like 212 248 etc.

You can have an antlerless mule tag special license and either a general mule licence or an antlered mule general license. The camp wainright tags can be held in addition to all other tags.

I did leave out Bighorn, I just don't think about it because I've always been under the impression that unless you're hunting a draw zone, your chances are minimal at best. I may be wrong about that...

You are wrong about that. Many hunters kill trophy bighorns regularly without ever hunting a draw zone. You can also draw a non trophy bighorn tag as well.

You should have wrote...

1 whitetail...if your lucky (overall success rate is 30%), our whitetails overall weight and dimension of antlers are inferior to other province's.

1 moose per 2 tags.... some places 1 moose per 4 tags (thats 4 hunters = 1 moose... rediculous!!!)

2 blackies.... 1 in spring, the other in fall (average weight for mature male black bear in QC = 190lbs).

2 caribou.... I ain't rich #####

Turkey hunt is still in the development (experimental) stage... (they draw out a couple hundred tags for the entire province).

Anticosti.... $$$$$ big bucks once again.

Grizzly, Mulie, Goats, elk, cougar,...??? what are these things you speak of?

I never knew you guys in other provinces were so lucky, i gotta start thinking about hunting outta province.

In Saskatchewan we can only shoot one coyote and one gopher so you better fill your coyote tag before he eats your gopher!

This is not a good place to hunt so don't come here to hunt!:p

Go straight to Alberta and save the taxes and get cheap gas.;)
Or try B.C. where the weather is always nice.;)

Goose25, here in Ontario you my have 10 + guys for that one moose. We usually split our moose between 6 guys(depends who goes) but thats like 100lbs of meat per person. Our lottery is a bit different for moose...some areas need 2 pool 1 hunters some there is no guarentee. For deer I hunt in a group but I get 1 tag/year but I could shoot every deer we had tags for. Now we have additional tags for my area but I dont know if its for the controlled hunt I participate in..lol

Number-wise, Ontario wins.
Diversity, however, will suffer.

Moose- one tag for calf. Enter draw for adult - the norther you go, the easier. Last year they had problems giving them away....

Bear - 1 plus extra one - depending on WMU.

Wolf/coyote - 2 in Northern, unlimited in South.

Caribou, Grizzly.... no season.

Deer- one archery + one controlled + one regular gun. And here we win. One can buy as many as each WMU has to spear. Some are none, some are in excess of five.
If you have three buddies and go hunting for deer, (and you're a Benoit:eek: ) you can bag over 20 deer a day. You just have to travel a lot...... Buy tags in advance and ....

BTW. When you said animals..... you meant only big game? Cause we have some bird-like creatures that are omnipresent.

The ubiquitous mosquito........ Ontario's Provincial Bird. 410 works great on them, but I've heard a lot of people recommending nothing less than 20ga :p

Silverado,
You missed quite a few for Alberta.....here is MY rundown on everything I can think of that you could draw/buy in one season......

Whitetail General
Mulie General
Antlerless Whitetail
Antlerless Whitetail (in some areas you can get 3 tags)
Trophy Antelope or Non-Trophy or Archery (only 1)
Non-Trophy Sheep
Trophy Sheep (General or Draw)
Moose (1)
Elk (1 of many tags)
Black Bear (2)
Strathcona Deer
WMU 212 Antlerless Deer (2)
Foothills Late Season Antlerless 212 Late Hunt (2)
Camp Wainwright Deer (2)
Cougar (1)
Wolves/Coyotes (Go Crazy)
And if you're really lucky.....Goat

This is it for big game that I can think of......

No Grizz in alberta?

Lots of grizz in Alberta. But our powers that be seem to think that a three year suspension on the hunt will give them plenty of time to do a good study on numbers etc..

I will be very surprised if we ever see the grizz hunt in AB opened again

Makes me feel blessed to live in BC. I have hunted this grand province [plus a bit in Alberta and Sask] all my hunting life, very close to 50 years, and have had the privilege of many very fine hours spent in the wilderness with good friends and lots of game animals. I raised 5 kids on game, and passed on the love of the outdoors to them in the process. I have a Son and a Son-in-law who are avid hunters, and another son coming up. My daughters, while not hunting themselves are pro-hunt and shoot. I still feel a tingle run up my spine when I smell the fall air, and know that I will soon be out there again to enjoy the wonderful outdoors and it's bounty. If I died tomorrow, I would not feel that I have missed out on much. That being said, I don't have any intention of giving up the next 20 years of hunting and shooting!! :D ;) Regards, Eagleye.

In Ontario, I can buy 7 deer tags, 2 bear tags and 1 moose tag, I can also buy 2 wolf tags, but I don't really consider them a game animal - and coyotes are just vermin.

However, we have party hunting here, which allows one member of a party to legally shoot up to the total number of animals for which the whole party hold tags. So based upon my current hunting plans, I will be able to shoot up to 32 deer, 9 moose and two bear this fall - 43 in all. Fat chance though!:D
