How many ATC holders are CGN's?

Had mine since fall of 2000. It took a while to get the papers at first but now renewal is no issue. I have also guided several other friends in the industry to get thier ATC. I know of 6 off the top of my head and I have a few other guys that are asking about the steps as well.

really? I didn;t think this was possible, bear density has tripled in National parks.. attacks etc. I would be interested in this for bear defense when hiking. - of course this is for the foot hills :)

I guess I could just get a shotty, but a pistol would be entertaining.

I have an ATC for work. My employer did everything involved in getting it for me, so as far as I'm concerned it was pretty straight forward. I had to sign a form recently for renewal, but that's where my responsibility ends.

There are three kinds of ATC:
Wilderness Carry - relatively easy to get for bush pilots, trappers, and others that need to openly carry a handgun for predator defence
Work Carry - Easy to get in the line of employment. What the armed guards have, people like Brinks for example.
CCW - Nearly impossible to get, unless you are a former prime minister, mob informant, or a major donor to the Liberal Party.

My ATC is for remote areas of BC and the Yukon. I have to be working as a geologist ie. looking for minerals, for the ATC to be valid.

If I'm out hunting then the ATC is not valid.

the ATC are very specific and not a rogure licence to pack heat. I could have one thru my work, but its really pointless. I can't use it if I'm up camping or hunting etc. Its only valid when used for work stuff. If I was a floatplane pilot however I would have one. There was a story in the news a while back about a dad that a bear killed in front of the float plane and no one had a gun. They had to run past the bear to the cabin to get the gun, by than the damage was done.
