I get it done by the butcher but if I had a place and equipment to butcher it myself, I would love to give it a try... Don't know if I'd keep doing it all the time as it's probably a lot of work but... I might like it :D

mommabear, what kind of machine do you guys use and how would you rate it?
we got the saw from busybee tools......its a good saw once you get the pullies to draw the blade straight....the table is a bit small to...
but once set up it an ok machine
it will make burgar as fast as you can add the meat

All by hand  Can be alot of work. I have a small grinder for making burger but definitely need a bigger one. Very time consuming. The men butcher and our women folk wrap and label.

I do it myself. It's part of hunting for me. I wouldn't mind help, but after my first one, with a mentor, I've hunted alone and butchered and packed my meat myself. I need more practise.

Wow guys! I'm totally impressed!
Tooner..your off to a great start ! I have to agree with the majority... doing down your own meat is great !

It depends how many we kill at a time. If it's just a couple, we do them ourselves. I it's a whole buch we pay a butcher to come by and do them.

When I was first introduced to hunting, the family I hunted with cut all their meat in their basement. It was not a pretty sight by any means but they did the best they could. To be honest it has left me having a really hard time enjoying wild game, especially deer meat, gives me shivers and a "vietnam sort of flashback". :x I have to get over it though since the hunting bug has bit me so hard, there is no turnng back.
We have been getting our meat cut for us but will be looking to start cutting it myself, it is getting hard to find a good butcher that will do wild game in these parts as we all know that the wild game is infected with all kinds of awful things. I just want to be self sufficient again and save a bit of coin too.

Indeed I do, I need alot of things. Although I am not sure he would do a show on the topic.
If I can learn how to cut up a deer myself, then the trauma should slowly go away. :)
