How many coyotes you shot so far this year?

Haven't had a chance to get out coyote hunting yet this season, but I have some new properties to hunt this year so it should be a good season.

I hope to smoke a few this weekend. Out at the hunt camp now, hope I get some sleep though, friggin flying squirrels are making a racket running in the walls. Shot 8 1st week of Nov, sounds like there's just as many again.

65 but stuck at work now till Christmas. Should have 2 weeks off over the holidays so hoping to break 100 before Jan 1. Started the tally on Oct. 1. The talley counter app. for the I-phone is handy for this.

1. How do you guys manage to get so many?

They live on the prairies! You can see them from one side of a province to the other!!:p I shot them as a teenager when I worked in Calgary. Darned things were everywhere. All I had with me was a .22 rimfire and I still manged to shoot a half dozen or so in just a few trips out and about.

They are a lot harder to get around here as it is all dense bush. I have been out twice this fall so far and haven't seen one or had one come to the call yet. I have a bait out as well at a buddies place and after two weeks it has yet to be hit. Two or three years ago we had quite a few in the area but the past year they seem to have all but disappeared. When you put a road killed deer on top of the bait and 1 week later it isn't hit in an area that held many then I guess they are few and far between. Not seeing tracks much either. 1 set so far.

When you see 20 to 30 a day deer hunting, pack a fast flat shooting rifle, and are not afraid to burn up some ammo they pile up pretty quick.

Haven't started yet. Still got my deer tag, so until I fill it or until Jan 1st, the rifle stays at home, bow only. This snow has me itchin to go though, seeing LOTS of tracks, as usual.

Can you guys stop shooting them for a while so I can catch up ? Your killing my self esteem !
Nice work though. If your shooting that many it's amazing there are any deer around.
I hope to get out this weekend.

if there is a healthy population where you live, you will have more chances.
Dont fret guys if some of you are not getting many.

back in 2000-2007 I reeeeallly was hard on the coyote population here in Grande Prairie,AB.
Never took a tally on the numbers because it wasnt important to me.
The only important thing was where the next yote was hiding! LOL!
I shot them with every caliber I had at the time. But my .244(A.K.A 6mm Ackley) was hard on them!
68grain Berger MEF, 3850fps. It was spectacular to hear the impact, and see the vapour puff up!

Good luck guys, and remember, just enjoy the coyotes you get, not the numbers.

Deer season is not over until Dec 15 to get another buck so all I have done is think about what guns I am going to use thise season for coyotes and I still need to work up a new load for my new to me 21" 17 Rem Contender carbine barrel.
