How many different handguns do Canada's Police, Border Officers, Military, etc, Use ?

The switch to the 5946 was years ago. There were a few guys that were holding onto their Sigs as long as they could. But no one has been trained on the Sig in a lot of years. That's changing now.

The hold up was partially because of Public Works, and more testing needed.

I was in the armorers shop when they were doing a bunch of shooting with the Sigs this past summer.

They use sigs prior to the 1995 acquisition to the 5946?

Most of the municipal police forces in Ontario use Glock 22 .40 S&W. Toronto, York Region, and Durham use Glock 22. Also Ottawa i think uses the Glock 22. Peel Regional police use S&W M&P40. The Ontario Provincial Police use the Sig P229 .40. Surprisingly the Ministry of Natural Resources officers are issued H&K USP.40 cal.

I thought Toronto used the g17. :confused:I was thinking of getting a g22 just to one up them, guess I'll have to get a g20 or 21:p

That wasn't abrasiveness.

I wasn't sure if you were serious or not. Obviously you're pretty junior, there's nothing wrong with that.

I take "Are you serious, how much service do you have" as well as "Obviously your pretty junior" as abrasive comments. That said it is the internet, and words can be interpreted in almost anyway.

Aside from that, to the extent of my knowledge Sigs were part of the trials the RCMP had to select a new weapon, however lost to S&W. I don't believe Sig has been used by the RCMP, including ERT teams. Could you clarify what you said though? Were they used or implemented?

You believe wrong. It was used by specialized units for years.

Here's a little history lesson. When Zaccardelli was Comm. (I bet he didn't sign your warrant card...), he said the rcmp is a national organization and will use one pistol. That was the S&W 5946 (and 5943). Those units that were using the Sig 226 were slowly transitioned from the Sig to the 5946. Except for the few holdouts, of which there are very few left, if any.

But some specialized teams are in the process of going back to a Sig.

It is news to me. I wasn't saying your wrong, but I had never heard of them being used prior. That said I am actually talking to my Watch Staff and he's saying your right on the money, that ERT ran them for a bit. I appreciate your snark remarks and professionalism. Understand that I am not saying your a lesser person, but simply I don't like the way your talking to me and I think you need to stop.

Further looking into the recent acquisition. DG market has an article about a acquisition of training pistols for ERT purposes. That said, it states that Sig models are for training only, and not for operational use, as set by the Policy center.

I know I'm right. I don't need your confirmation. And ERT ran them for more than 'a bit'. I'm also glad you aren't saying I'm a lesser person, I just wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if you were. But you 'think' I need to stop? So you aren't sure? Should I continue until you know for sure?

Hold on though, if you're talking to the Staff, you're probably working. Are you using a work computer for surfing cgn? And even if you're using your phone, shouldn't you be working and not checking cgn if you're on the clock right now?

Because they're 'blue guns'.

Plastic. Non-working, to help with transition training and for drills where working firearms aren't needed or wanted.
