I saw the tracks and was looking at the stumps for anything bird looking.

I used to live in Yellowknife and that was a common site. 30-40 on the roadside is not uncommon, great pics.

like many of you said there are 9 in this picture but there was over 20 in this flock. They come down from up farther north every year for a couple of months. great fun shooting, and very tasty. i still prefer ruffed grouse but they dont come in flocks of 20!!!!!!! hope you enjoyed

We've got both Rock & Willow Ptarmigan...called Partridge by just about everyone. Breast meat isn't as dark as duck, goose but is very sweet tasting. I love it in soup, beats the hell out of chicken any day!
