Ok............

The whole $hitstorm over a simple $50 cost for a shooting course got me exchanging PMs with someone regarding "DPA" groups..

Just how many are there anyway!!

There is as I can figure at least 4 groups that have the "DPA" concept.

Does this not seem a tad "odd" to anyone else?

Can't we all "just get along"?

I have shot some "DPA" matches with the "Independant" DPA guys and had a riot...

Oh and no slagging the various DPA groups! I just want to find out what if any common ground there is that can be found between them.

My guess is that there are many shooters who like this type of shooting, but for whatever reason don't feel the need to be affiliated with or see any benefit in signing on with "the" IDPA(USA) organization... I know I don't
So....
They/we put on these practice nights/matches and well it's gotta be called something so why not ?DPA. Most people see ?DPA and understand what's meant.
There's no need for a formal, centralized organization. No need for a membership fee just so you can say you "belong".
The matches are held for fun and pretty much every ?DPA shooter I know shoots for fun... Sure scores are kept, but at the end of the day that and a $1.39 will get you a Lg. Coffee at Timmy's..
As far as "getting along" goes Storm.... I don't see any arguing going on.. 'Just a few guys pissin' an' moanin' over what they feel is unjust... It's usually the same whiners over and over.... Y'know, the guys wearing $3000 worth of useless high speed low drag kit #####in' about a $50 fee. Fortuanately they number very few...

weellll, there are some clubs shooting us affiliated IDPA, paid up to the american org so they can compete down there if they want to

then some of us who shoot up here for fun and know that we won't be shooting down there, and don't have enough ego tied up in it to worry about who's first, only am I getting better, or better yet, are we all having fun yet?:dancingbanana: Also try to keep it as realistic and not gamey as possible, sigh, not that we'll ever be allowed to carry in this country. Thats the independent DPA or the ODPA guys (same grounp, sorting things out now, check out the web site as it forms at ODPA.org I believe. (please note, I have nothing against the serious competitors, go nuts, it's not really my thing.)

Don't know anything about the CDPA group......anyone?

I think they all have the same common ground- go and have fun with stock equipment- thats what it really is ,I believe-

on this part, I shoot a security six, all stock, and live on disability pension, so no big money toys for me, but 50 bucks is a chunk of $$, but we all have fun here no matter- its not a real stretch on a budget to shoot every once in a while- you gotta enjoy, thats for sure
Hope we all have fun, no matter what DPA thing we shoot
