This nitro spring unit looks sweet though. May have to reconsider ;

Yes. 6.5 lbs,950 FPS and super quiet, and i was lucky to snaggle a laminated hardwood stock which are like hens teeth.
I hope it works well. The ratings have been excellent except for the trigger but i can fix that. The scope is even supposed to be decent.
Should arrive next week.

Shot lots of crows with my .22cal 495 ft per second flea market pellet gun. All from about 20-30 yards, then always fall down to the ground, most require a finish shot.

crosman 2240 with steel breech, shoulder stock, and 14 inch barrel all come in at under 230 bucks from scopesandammo.com and i hammer rabbits with it no problem.

I know we're talking birds, not rats, but just FYI, my brother and I were taking care of some rats at our parents place this spring. 495 fps Crosman Optimus .177 with pointed pellets @ 5 ft, head shots only stunned them, body shot injured, but didn't completely dispatch (at least on the spot). They may of died later, but that's not how I like to hunt even rats. Maybe rats are just way tougher than I gave them credit for. YMMV.
