How many full auto parts can you use in an AR15?

I'm not talking about the lower reciever and auto sear here folks, just the other parts.

When a firearm is verified, do they care of the hammer, disconnector, trigger, and bolt carrier are from the M16? Even though it is still impossible for it to fire more than one round at a time per trigger pull?

I wouldn't mind building an AR using these parts, just because I can, but don't know the legalitys of it.

anyone care to educate me here?

Wow, you guys are all a bunch of help. He asked a legitimate question.

As far as I know, only the auto-sear is controlled but I could be wrong. You can't fit the auto-sear in an AR15, and possibly not the auto-capable trigger due to clearance issues.

A lot of guys run M16 bolt carriers, other than the trigger group that's the only other part the really differs, if I'm not mistaken.

The sear is the only part you can't use..everything else fits right in
And a lot of the match grade FCG's that come out of the states are M16 pattern parts

Like others have said, you can use all M16 lower parts except the auto-sear (modifications must be done to a lower receiver to install that part, do them and you go to jail). Be careful if you are using a shrouded M16 bolt carrier and all M16 lower parts, if the selector is set to "auto" without the auto-sear then the hammer will ride the carrier and the gun might fire out of battery or go fullauto. My advise is to stick with your factory selector instead of the M16 one.

As above, there's absolutely no legal issues with using M16 carriers, firing pins, hammers, triggers, disconnectors, selectors, furniture, barrels, or whatever else you can find that's M16.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it matters what you put into any gun as long as it doesn't fire full-auto after.

I use M-16 bolts carriers and selectors in my AR's. I prefer the slightly heavier weight of the carrier, I think it gives a more consistant lock up. I prefer the full auto selector as, being left handed I can rotate the selector up to the front and get it off of my trigger finger. You can use the full auto selector so long as you DO NOT USE the full auto disconnector you will have no fire control problems this way

Scott.

EXACTLY, the weight of the carrier is defenitly more than the semi auto one. I wasn't sure of legalities of this but was hoping to use at least this part.
I don't plan to use the full auto selector becuase it will stop the disconnector from working and I'll have hammer follow through, which is no good.

Thanks to those who actually contributed to this thread, and the popcorn eaters thanks for nothing.

Todays semi carriers aren't ye olde Colt half-moons anymore. If your gun needs an extra .5 Oz to function correctly something else needs attention.

If you want real added reciprocating mass, use a heavier buffer.

Legally you can use whatever floats your boat, the autosear won't fit. Personally I'd put the cash towards ammo.

b-wing is right stay away from the m16 selector.
Why?

Bingo! Bingo!

Nobody cares what parts you have where in your gun up here. Just make sure you don't make it work better than one round at a time. :D

All the hoopla is US law.
