How many Glock's do you own?

Could you not special order say a Glock 29 in 10mm and have it come with 4.11 inch barrel like a Barsto or KKM?

Sure. Might even do that one day. Its just a matter of time.

But I prefer the grip angle on the XD or 1911

On the final stage of a USPSA match last weekend I locked the slide open on my G17 and mashed into a nice mushy puddle of mud then flipped it over to get the other side all gunked up. I made sure there was noting in the barrel and reholstered, then submerged all my loaded mags into the same filth. I loaded up and shot a 28 round C.O.F. then dumped whatever ammo I had left on my belt down range. Not a single hiccup, I thought for sure I'd get at least one. My STI's on the other hand, no way in hell would I put it through this, If a mag touches the ground it gets stripped and cleaned or else I begging for a jam. That being said an F-1 car won't last too long in a desert race either. I have no problem racing either gun, one just happens to be designed for peek preformance in ideal conditions and one is designed for total fuction across the board. They each do there intended purpose and the both are a joy to shoot.

Just one, G21. There's no doubt I love the .45ACP cartridge. I poo poo'd Glocks for a long time. I didn't diss them, I just wouldn't own a 'tupperware' handgun. Felt that they were too light when I handled them and that this would translate into greater recoil. I bought a Glock 21 and have been impressed with it. It isn't as 'smooth' as my Para or Sig but it's easy to shoot, easy to maintain and it is quite accurate. My only complaints about the pistol is that it doesn't extract with the authority that the Para does and I've been hit in the face and forehead with brass more times than I would like (my Sig is the same if I load too soft) and the fact that it kinda feels like a toy and looks blocky and squarish but if SHTF and I was only able to carry one of my .45's, it'd be the G21. On a side note, I'm getting out of 9mm but if I were to get back into it, a G17 would definitely be on my 'short' list. My friend's G17 shot very well and felt better in my hands than my G21, just a tad better because of its smaller frame. Just my .02 cents worth, YMMV...

I agree with you Glocks are ugly, unreliable, and inaccurate!

Richard :D

To me...Glocks are ###y, I own two of these beauties...G17 & G21. As for reliability, I trust both of them with my life!!! I've spit out thousands of rounds in both pistols with no problemo's what so ever...and accuracy...I do head-shots at 50 yards standing up (Two-hand tactical offensive stance) just like butter.

If you cant hit beans with your toyz its not the gun....its you.

I have only one - a Glock 20.

I bought it because I love 10mm's.

I ordered this gun brand new and I must admit, at first I was hesitant. This gun is the most reliable handgun that I own/have ever owned! Not the most accurate but one that I would stake my life on.

I do find that the grip is too large and I wish Glock made them with a flat backstrap but hey......I still love it!:D

I find the Glock 17/22 is a better grip size for me so who knows, maybe I'll have to pick one up......;)

1 G17. It's now about 10 years old and has functioned flawlessly
for over 10,000 rounds.
It may not be as '###y' as my Kimber or for that matter my Lew Horton
686 or others . But if my life depended on it , it would most assuredly
be my first choice.

One.
I bought my G17 in 1985. It was one of the first lot into North America. I bought it with the idea I would keep it until I found a better tool.

I'm still waiting.....

Performance;
#1- Reliability; it goes BANG every time I squeeze the trigger.
That is important to me. The only stoppages I've had were ammo; failure to fire and one stove pipe. I managed to cause stoppages firing intentionaly limp-wristed, just to try it.

#2- Accuracy. It is still more accurate than I am.
The only pistols I have ever fired more accurately were suppressed, one H&K Mark 21 Mod 0, in .45 of course, and a Sig Sauer in .357 Sig. Both were amazingingly accurate, but then that's the effect of a quality suppressor, too.

#3- Calibre. Not that I had a choice at the time, but 9mm was the same round used in service, so that made it a no-brainer. (fortunate for me!)
Frankly, given our repressive 10rnd mag laws, and the fact I have retired from the CF, I am ready to trade for a .45 ACP. Being a 12(6) geek, I will try a couple of the models before purchasing. I don't think I will sell the 9mm, it's seen a lot of good use, and probably isn't worth much.

#4- Safety / simplicity.
No levers, chamber indicators, widgets, gadgets, whistles or bells. It is the safest hand gun when it rides in my holster, yet it is instantly ready just by drawing it. Grab, point, bang. Let's face it, we don't NEED a hand gun until we REALLY need a handgun, and then it is RIGHT NOW. K.I.S.S.

Asthetic Appeal;

Who gives a rat's patootie? It is a gun. You want beauty? Buy art. I'll stick with what works, thanks. (Having said that, I love the look of them- form follows function.)

Remember- the best gun is the one you feel confident with, thereby more prepared to get into the fight. Is the Glock the best handgun? If not for you, fine. Mine is for me.

Cheers,

Ben

P.S. Anybody want to trade a well-worn 1st generation G17 for a shiny new(er) 3rd gen Glock in .45?

Looking at a new 19 a friend of mine just bought. Looks nice (for a glock, not so hot for anything else) in OD green. At least they have a real case for them now instead of a black sandwich box by tupperware. Still, not really on the list of things I want/need to own.

I have 3; Glock 17, Glock 17c, and a Glock 35... I haven't decided on a G21 or an XD45 for the CDP division of IDPA/CDP?

Decisions, decisions.... maybe Both :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
