How many grizzlies have you been seeing in AB?

but do you really blame them? I would move outta town too (ntnl parks) if the tourists wanted to take my picture/harass me all day. They probably moved east and north, south of the parks to find some "refuge" from ntnl parks/tourists/highways.

Lots of food for them to eat, to boot.

We have recently heard of actual confirmed cougar sightings in our WMU. always wondered if they were around before, but now its confirmed. Kind of interesting, but I will be watching my back a little more closely when out in the woods.
 
I heard that there were about 15 grizz between Calgary and the U.S. border :rolleyes: . The Castle area has a good population of Grizz as does the Crowsnest. The political crap really makes me freaking mad. I wonder how many fisherman will get it this year around those areas :mad: The gov needs to pull their heads out of their a$$es and maybe do proper studies on bear populations.
 
When they fight it's fast and furious,they don't play around like that. Those videos are bear foreplay, the little girls just not quite ready yet.

Come to think of it, I do remember a girlfriend that worked me over once pretty good, musta been a close relative to that Griz. I was much more civil than that male Griz. :D :runaway:

Heck, we had 20 this year on the lower Kitimat river alone!:runaway: Caused some fun with the salmon chasers.:D
 
So far, none while out hunting, but I did see one up on Sullivan Pass, two either digging up or burying a carcass SW of Gould's Dome (while glassing some goats) and a couple of cubs by the K country gates going to Highwood Junction. All sightings were from late spring to late summer. One of the bruins on Gould's Dome actually stood up to check me out and I estimate to have been about 600 yards away. Needless to say, I bid them goodbye and was on my way.

All nice places to spend some time ;) :)
 
I saw 17 in 3 days in Kananaskis last year.Mostly sows with cubs but at least a couple of boars. I talked to one of the co's and he said when he started his career seeing a Grizzly bear was rare. I think the whole hunting debate is just a smokescreen to divert attention from all the industrial development in Grizzly habitat which will definitely affect populations.
