How many inches will one click move?

I have two M8 Leupold 4 power scopes, one on my 300 Winchester magnum and I recently added another (2nd hand) one to my 270.

How many inches is one click of the dial supposed to move the point of impact at 100 yards on those scopes?

I was just recently at the range with the 300 and found that one click - though they don't really click, I just mean one measure- was not quite enough to move the POI one inch, then two clicks seemed to move too much.

Not sure what M8 is but most scopes are 1/4" at 100 yards. Why do you not shoot 5 rounds without adjusting your scope to see what group you are getting with the loads you are using (assuming all are the same?). Unless your gun is a good shooter you will be adjusting the scope all over the paper. If it is a good shooter just chase the hole with the scope.

Depends on the click adjustment value of the scope. It'll say on the scope whether it's 1/4", 1/2", 1/8", etc.

assuming the M8 is now called the FX-II 4x x 33mm, it uses 1/4 MOA clicks, or 4 clicks = 1 inch at 100 yards, 2 inches at 200 yardfs, etc
