How many mag pouches do I need for the BB course

well, there is competition, and there is the course. The max number of reloads you need to do in a course is 2 (when walking between 3 positions), and that's not timed. you only need to worry about a single timed mag change... So, in theory, if you pulled 2 mags from your back pockets to load at the start of each exercise, you COULD manage the course with 2 mags, if finances are tight. But it will make it easier for you to have lots of room for mags on your belt, so if you can, get up to 3 more (I'm assuming you're talking about single pouches, competition style). 5 will serve you well in competition (I've seen people with 4 and people with 6+, but 5 seems to be the standard average).

Always good to have an extra too incase one breaks. I had 5 at my recent BB course and wish I had six. Of course I have a mag safety and having an extra empty mag to decock the pistol would have been helpful. I also found that more is better. If you have to reshoot an exercise there is less running back to your ammo to reload and holding up the course. You'll need them eventualy so you should get at least the five is what I would recommend.

he's asking about mag pouches, not mags, but your 'more is better' applies equally well to both ;)

Well just my $.02 but when I did my BB I shot the course as if I was going to a match, that means I set up my belt and pouches/holster to be in the same place and position as if I were competing. Now thats just my preference.
